The Amel farm produces Italian honey against the breath-taking backdrop of the Piedmontese Alps. They devote themselves with loving care and passion to their beehives and to the bees’ well-being in full harmony with the surrounding nature. Their commitment to the environment and to the quality of their nectars is also to be seen in their use of beehives made entirely from wood treated with water only.
Maple honey wins everybody over with its transparency and its delicate, fruity taste, and mint honey with its penetrating savors, more outspoken to both smell and taste. But Amel is not just honey. One must absolutely try their chestnut pollen, a natural tonic picked up by bees at 700 meters’ elevation (2300 ft.) or their forest honeydew honey, dark-shaded and with a well balanced sweetness, rich in beneficial properties. But there are other dainties, like honey vinegar, acidified using the Orlean’s method and refined in oak barrels: excellent with meat and cheese.
